INTRODUCTION FOR NEW MEMBERS

  1. Business meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at the Vista Lodge Clubhouse,    1010 E. Bobier Dr., Vista, at 7:00 PM. We have a drawing at each business meeting. Each member contributes a quarter. Half of the money collected goes to the Club, and half to the member whose name is drawn, and who is present at the meeting.

  2. A Social Dance is held on the fourth Sunday of each month at the Ocean Hills Country Club,   (OHCC) 4701 Leisure Village Way, Oceanside, CA 92056.  This Social is in conjunction with OHCC’s Potluck Dance. Members must call George or Miriam Mozes (760-941-5175  or 760-805-3438) if they want to attend (OHCC is a gated community). Members are asked serve as organizers for one of these monthly socials. The Social Chairperson will prepare the schedule.

  3. Palomar Chapter is one of the eight chapters located from San Diego to San Francisco. Each year a convention is hosted by one of the chapters during a labor Day weekend. It is a four-day event with excellent dancing, great fun, opportunities to make new friends and meet old ones, and good competition dancing.

  4. A State Board Meeting is held each year. This is a three-day event which is usually held in Bakersfield, CA and it is also lots of fun with lots of dancing and parties.

  5. Each club organizes an annual Queen’s coronation. Each chapter elects its Queen for the year. Coronations of these queens are held throughout the year. Palomar has its coronation in July.

  6. Members are encouraged to attend meetings whenever possible and to serve on committees.

  7. Palomar sponsors beginner dance lessons. These are held on Mondays at the Gloria McClellan Senior Center in Vista at 7:00 PM. Members pay $2.00 per person, per lesson and non-members pay $5.00.

  8. We have a website at www.palomarsmoothdancers.org  Please consult it often, since most of the announcements will be posted there. The site also has pictures from various Coronations and other functions as well as our By-Laws, Standing Rules, Awards, History, etc.

We are a social club, and through our mutual interest in dancing, we have become good friends. We hope that your membership in the club will be just as rewarding for you as it was, and still is for us.

Keep on dancing!
